Betrayed by Benishek

Students of American history will tell you that during the Revolutionary Era, only 25 to 30% of the American populace was in favor of separation from England. Then, there was another 25 to 30% that was in favor of being loyal to England. The balance were non-committed . . . they just wanted to earn an income, raise a family and go hunting and fishing from time to time.

Isn’t it fortunate for us, that the 25 to 30% of the populace that wanted to separate from England, and declare our independence as a free nation, were people of integrity and conviction! They knew that when you are on the side of “right” there can be NO compromise.

Lacks the backbone for the jobIsn’t it too bad that Michigan’s 1st Congressional District does not have any political leaders of that caliber! From now on, I’ll have to refer to Dr. Dan Benishek as “Bart Benishek”.

This country is on a SHORT ROAD to insolvency. The American people know it. And, the American people are not as stupid as Bart Benishek would have us believe. The American people would have known who to blame for a government shutdown. But, Bart Benishek wouldn’t even give us a chance to prove our intelligence. He caved in and voted for a watered down spending cut. When this country needed leadership, he gave us politics. Rather than standing on principles, he straddled the fence and stood for the status quo and spending as usual, and placating the "good ole boys" that run the Republican party.

Bart Benishek will tell you that this $38.5 billion budget cut is the largest single budget cut in the nation’s history. But, at $1.65 trillion, our country is facing the largest deficit that it has EVER faced. Now, take away Bart Benishek’s measly $38.5 billion in budget cuts, and what do you end up with? A $1.265 trillion deficit . . . STILL the largest deficit this country has EVER faced. Business as usual. Spending as usual.

Bart Benishek will tell you that the Republicans would have been blamed for the short-term, partial government shut down. A compromise was needed to keep the government up and spending. But, with business as usual, who will the people blame when our government shuts down permanently? Or when it starts printing value-less dollars in order to pay the interest on the national debt . . . causing inflation to go from 2% to 22% to 200%. Did you ever think of that, Bart Benishek?

How in the world can we convince our neighbors to throw out senators Stabenow and Levin and return the Senate to the republicans? For what purpose? To replace them with whom? Someone with an “R” behind their name? . . . Someone with the same lack of conviction and lack of integrity and weak backbone as Bart Benishek? Someone who will avoid the tough decisions in favor of political convenience? Why bother? What difference does it make if you have a Levin or a Stabenow or a Benishek or an Obama? They are all spineless. They are all more concerned about their own future than that of the country.

Bart Benishek, you have weakened our Nation today. Why don’t you just pack your bags, go back to Menominee County (or wherever), and go back to hunting, fishing and raising a family. You are surely not doing this country any good in Washington.

PS Don’t bother asking you wife to send me any more fund raising letters.
