Don't Believe Their Lies
Don’t believe their lies.
The Senate defeated the Cut Cap and Balance legislation, Friday, by a vote of 51 to 46.
Liar, Liar . . . Pants on Fire
I suspect that their biggest objection was that (if enacted into law) the bill would have put in place permanent handcuffs on their ability to continue spending and borrowing and raising taxes. In short, the bill would have wrestled control and power away from them, and put it back into the hands of the people.
Make no mistake about it . . . the bill was a compromise measure offered by the House of Representatives. It gave the President the full $2.4 trillion in new debt authority (that he requested). In exchange, it would have put in place permanent controls to insure that this would be the last time (barring a national emergency of some kind) that a debt ceiling increase would have been necessary. Give and take . . . isn’t that what compromise means?
To justify their position, the Senate leadership kept calling the bill the “cut, cap and kill Medicare” bill. How they can get away with such an outright LIE is beyond me!
Take about 3 or 4 minutes to read through the 10-page bill. Here’s the link:

Did you notice that in the Cut and Cap sections, that Medicare, Social Security and a couple other line items were specifically EXEMPTED from the impact of the legislation??? Yes, EXEMPTED.
Yet, Senate leadership keeps referring to the is bill as the “cut, cap and kill Medicare” bill. Are you as disgusted with those liars as I am? This country is on the verge of bankruptcy and the Senate is unwilling to rein in its reckless spending.
Fortunately, we still have a half dozen years (or so) before the inevitable happens. Barring the intervention of the Almighty, himself, our last chance to take control of the steering wheel will be at the voting booth come November 2012.
