This may be what you’re looking for. My grandson calls it the Purple Pirate. He designed it on one of his recent trips (with his parents) to visit Pa and Nana. Even though he’s only 3, he’s been designing flies (with Pa’s help) for the past 16 months. In fact, he has a whole “family” of flies, including a “little boy fly” (size 10, 2x long) and the “baby” (size 12 standard dry fly hook). For safety, all the hooks have been clipped at the bend, after completing the tie.

Hook: Size 6, 3x long
Thread: black 3/0
Tail: Yellow marabou with holographic gold flashabou
Body: Red deer body hair (tied hex style, flared at the hook bend, and cris-cross the black thread to give the body a segmented appearance).
Whiskers: Yellow sili-legs with brown flecks
