WELCOME to the Wolverine Fly Fishing Journal
The purpose in creating this website is to provide a means of disseminating over 40 years of personal, Michigan fly fishing experience to anyone who might appreciate having it.

Hopefully, the sharing of this experience and insight might lead to your enhanced enjoyment of the fly fishing sport and to a deep and profound appreciation for the environs that trout inhabit.
The ultimate beneficiary, however, will be the trout, their waters and the generations of fly fishers yet to be born.
The name, “Wolverine Fly Fishing Journal” is hoped to convey three perspectives. The first is geographic. The lakes and streams of Michigan will provide the foundation for 99% of the site’s content. Naturally, much of what we’ll deal with here is transferrable to other geographic regions. But, it is the birth state of Trout Unlimited that serves as the backdrop for the action that unfolds.
Secondly, this is only about fly fishing. Maybe in streams or rivers, or in the Great or inland lakes, but if the water is cold enough and clean enough to support trout, we’ll pursue them with fly rod in hand. We’ll look at tackle, techniques, philosophy and etiquette, but one thing is for sure . . . we won’t be talking about spoons, spinners, worms or spawn.
Lastly, this is a journal . . . well, at least in part. And, with a journal’s perspective, a certain amount of personal opinion and reminiscences should be permitted and expected. Of course, there will be a periodic and factual report on fishing success (and failure) . . . along with a liberal dose of excuses. That should be permitted (and expected), as well.
But, there will be some personal thoughts and observations, too. From time to time, it’s important that we all take the time to ponder our existence, and reminisce about the happenstance experiences that brought us to this point in our lives. Consider this as part of your training for grandparenthood.
OK, now. With that short explanation , exercise your index finger and click a few links. I hope you enjoy reading the Wolverine Fly Fishing Journal.
